2(A)(3). The parts of an ice skate, by type

This may not apply to you. You have not answered "Requirement 2: ice skating, roller skating, in-line skating, or skateboarding?" yet. Answer it and this step will either settle or drop off.

Parts AND functions, across the different types, which means figure, hockey and speed skates are three answers rather than one. Do this one properly and step 8 explains itself, because the toe pick it tells you to avoid is the part that distinguishes a figure skate.

Note. THIS STEP AND STEP 8 ARE THE SAME FACT TWICE, AND DOING THIS ONE PROPERLY MAKES THAT ONE MAKE SENSE. The parts and functions of the DIFFERENT TYPES of ice skate means figure, hockey and speed skates are three answers, not one. The single most useful difference to understand is the toe pick, the row of teeth on the front of a figure skate blade, because step 8 asks you to stroke forward from a T position while AVOIDING THE USE OF TOE PICKS if you are wearing figure skates. A Scout who has not worked out what a toe pick is for will not understand why step 8 forbids using it, and will push off the toe every time.
